EMC SCHEDULE NOTES

The building in the manufacturing area where the EMC MAZAK project is located will be dedicated to the EMC group classes and projects.  EMC specific classes and projects will be done in this area.

The EMC developers plan more or less regular "late morning" discussion of code, bugs, and features.  They will also be testing features during the afternoon and coding during the evenings.  (Note from Roland - I presume "late morning" means that they will have been up all night working on projects)

Ray Henry will present a class and discussion each morning
   Monday --     Introduction to EMC2
Tuesday --    Using the Hardware Abstraction Layer part 1
Wednesday --  Using the Hardware Abstraction Layer part 2
Thursday --   Ladder logic programming part 1
Friday --     Ladder logic programming part 2

These sessions will allow for breaks to attend presentations of interest in the regular classroom located in the other building.

Each afternoon will be a hands on laboratory where individuals can work on several test machines, install and setup EMC2 on their own computers and hardware, or work with a small group fitting a CNC Control using and EMC to a Diacro turret punch press.  This lab time will also permit some interaction between new users and developers on specific features of the EMC code.

New Information - April 28, 2006 - The EMC gurus have said they are ready to shoot for installing the software on a Wire EDM machine - A JAPAX Wire EDM machine, model LDM-S is in place and awaiting the tender ministrations of the EMC guys.  This may turn out to be a major "gut and replace" operation like the MAZAK project when all is said and done.  Depending upon circumstances, they may even try to use Ben Fleming's new EDM power supply.  Ben will be here demonstrating his Build-It-Yourself Ram EDM systems.  Tom Powderly was here a few days ago and there are some problems with the JAPAX Wire machine - The EMC crew may have it moving around but it might not be doing any actual cutting - Stay tuned and come to the Third Annual CNC-Workshop in 2007

Jon Elson has said that he wants to retrofit the Series II Bridgeport that we have to run on EMC - We will have it in the EMC area also - It will be running on stepper motors when he gets it going.
